So i'm literally exploding with excitement while writing this post. Close friends and family will read the title and immediately understand why i'm happy, but let me bring the rest of you guys up to speed. It all started on a sunny day on vacation in the Dominican Republic, let me set the scene, crystal clear dark blue waters, the smell of the ocean - salty but crisp, all my best buds around, drinks flowing, AND perfect music on a large Catamaran. I had planned that days outfits way in advance I was excited to be there, and in my mind, I felt perfectly dressed for the occasion. This was an excursion to a small island called Isla de Saona. We drink, ate, and had loads of fun. It was beautiful and by far one of the best days of my adult life, and I romanticized that memory to the point where I became obsessed with Nautical wear.

The idea of Nautical fashion originated in Britain and was really different from what it is today, coming from the Latin word Nauticus, or from the Greek word nautikos refers to ships or sailors (hi fleet week). With the introduction of the Naval uniform in England in the mid-eighteenth century came the distinct color combination of blue and white with gold and silver trimmings. The uniform continued to evolve until Queen Victoria had a  child-size sailors uniform made for her son Prince Albert. The naval colors have been used by the brits to represent bravery and loyalty and have now been one of the longest and most resilient trends in the fashion world and on the beach.

So here are some nautical pieces from Amazon if you're simply planning on hitting the beach this summer OR - if you're just about that Yacht life woot-woot!!!!!!

I almost always do a nautical theme day whenever i'm on vacation, it gives me a preppy feeling #issavibe one that is clean and kind of chic. You may be just Lizzy vacationing in Florida but add some nautical to that and you can be transformed  (in your mind) into Ms. Elizabeth yachting the Hamptons.

Oh and don't forget to actually enjoy the beach ~
